SC Heerenveen chief Gerry Hamstra admits they'd have happily held onto Brighton striker Anders Dreyer.
The young Dane has cut short his loan with the Dutch outfit to return home to FC Midtjyland in a permanent transfer.
With Heerenveen this season, Dreyer played 13 times and scored twice.
"He developed well here. We would have liked to keep him for the second half of the season," said Hamstra.
"Due to a clause, Anders now opts for a transfer to FC Midtjylland. We wish him all the best with this new challenge at a top club in Denmark."
