Manchester United had the chance to snap up Alphonso Davies before he made his move to Bayern Munich.
The Daily Star says United missed out on signing Davies, the teenager who starred in Bayern Munich's 3-0 Champions League win over Chelsea on Tuesday.
The youngster, who was 17 at the time, was offered a three-week trial by United.
But instead he decided to spend time with Canada's Olympics team.
Davies had made his debut for Canada aged 16 in a friendly against Curacao, and is now a fully-fledged international with five goals from his 17 caps.
He joined Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps last year.
